<title>2005 NORBA #2 - Nova Desert Classic</title>
<link>http://www.gearsbikeshop.com/gearsracing/html/modules.php?op=modload&amp;name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=412</link>
<description>GearsRacing.com's National Champion Ricky Federau and first year senior Mark Batty travelled to Phoenix, Arizona to compete in the second round of the US National MTB Series last weekend. Run in McDowell Mountains Recreational Area outside of Fountain Hills, the weather was the opposite of NORBA #1's mudfest - dry and warm. Ricky had a strong TT ride, that is until his tire got sliced. With 96 riders, the STXC was divided in half with both Ricky and Mark running the B race, with Ricky storming the front for some revenge, grabbing 2nd spot, with Mark 42nd. The XC saw Ricky's luck go south again with another flat tire, while Mark finished well in his first senior XC in 39th, good for top 50 overall. Another great Canadian weekend with Geoff Kabush sweeping the races.

GearsRacing's Greg Reain held off teammate Jesse Jakomait in the Elite Men to take the crown, while National Espoir Champion Marty Lazarski made a late surge to add Provincial Espoir Champion to his resume!
